Thanks for the comment – I have heard of Grandin but hadn’t heard of the documentary. I’ll definitely look out for it. She’s written Animals in Translation which I’d like to read, too, as I’ve heard good things.

I came here because of your OmniFocus tip : calls and agendas on the day after seeing Temple Grandin, a documentary about an autistic woman not only earning her Doctorate but truly improving treatment of cattle. It definitely addresses her autistic adolescent stage. I’m commenting just in case you haven’t heard of it.

Thanks for the comment – I’ll have to check out the book. Looking at its reviews online, it seems to be a very neat direct perspective on the matter. One parent found it to be particularly encouraging.

I think you’re right – early intervention is our best bet.

Greetings Kouroush,

I enjoy your writing. An interesting book written by an “autistic” 30 something year old man is Send In The Idiots. Bit of a sarcastic title; it is the story of 4 classmates of the author and how they grew up after sharing a classroom for autistic children.

I think we should also consider developments in early intervention and how they can change the course of autism to an extent greater than most psychiatrists are trained to believe.

Is a little complicated if you talk about the autism treatment and many professional searching a good solution and of course depend of the kind of step that the teenager or adult have, autism treatment can be many varieties like for example, For many kids and teenagers, autism treatment involves some combination of intensive behavioural therapy, speech and language therapy and special education in public schools.
